What is UPSC IES Exam 2019?

UPSC Indian Engineering Service Examination 2019

UPSC IES also known as Engineering Services Examination i.e ESE is conducted by UPSC every year to recruit engineers all over the country. Similarly this year also UPSC will be recruiting Engineers under four categories mainly

1.  Civil, 
2. Mechanical, 
3. Electrical 
4. Electronics & Telecommunications 

The number of vacancies to be filled out this through IES examination 2019 are approximately 581 including 34 vacancies for the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PWD) (23 vacancies for Locomotor Disability including Cerebral Palsy, Leprosy cured, Dwarfism, Acid Attack victims and Muscular Dystrophy & 11 vacancies for Hard of Hearing. The number of vacancies is liable to change afterward.

9.  AEE(QS&C) in MES Surveyor Cadre 

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

1.  Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers.

Eligibilty for IES  2019 Examination.

UPSC sets some eligibilty criteria for appearing ESE Examination.

The candidate must basically satisfy 3 criterias:

1. Nationality
2. Age
3. Education

Nationality

The candidate must be

1. an Indian Citizen
2. a subject of Nepal
3. a subject of Bhutan
4. a Tibetan refugee came to India before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
5.  a person of Indian origin who has immigrated from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, or East African countries of Uganda, Kenya, United Republic of Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zaire, and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of setting in India.

Age

1. Candidate must be minimum 21 years of age and not more than 30 by 1st Jan 2019.
2. he/she must have been born between 2nd January 1989 and 1st January 1998. 
3. If the candidate belongs to caste such as SC/ST/OBC they the age limit is relaxed up to 5 years.

Education

The candidate applying for IES 2019 must be an engineering graduate from government recognized institues.
